The VisitJeju listing for the Jeju Food & Wine Festival records the 2026 edition as the 11th running, held 23 May to 13 June 2026 under the theme "Back to the Essence", with the signature programme umbrella called "Taste of Jeju".
The main venue was Jeju Shinhwa World, 38 Sinhwayeoksa-ro 304beon-gil, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si (제주 서귀포시 안덕면 신화역사로304번길 38). Jeju CS Hotel also carried listed events, with the programme spread across the island rather than confined to one resort.
The JFWF Organizing Committee runs the festival, co-hosted with the Korea Food & Wine Festival association and Jeju Halla University. Jeju Shinhwa World was the sponsor for the second consecutive year in 2026. The enquiries line is 02-3467-0303 and the festival's own domain is jfwf.kr.
One detail worth correcting, because it circulates in English listings: the 11th-edition-in-2026 count places the first edition in 2016. A separate English-language entry claims the festival has run every May since 2006, which the edition numbering does not support. The split the table exposes is the useful part: the seat-limited dinners collapse into three evenings, two of them Saturdays, while the walk-in drinking programme covers all twenty-two days. A visitor who wants a paired dinner is booking a specific Saturday, not a festival week. The 2026 line-up named Chef Seo Hyo-chul and pâtissier Shin Yong-chul; the 2025 Master Chef Class had been built around four chefs from Culinary Class Wars, so the class is where the television-name draw tends to sit.
What tickets cost, and what the organiser has not published
No 2026 price for the Gala Dinner, Gourmet Dinner, Master Chef Class or Wine Tasting appears in any indexed public source. Ticketing ran through Naver Ticket, and the festival's own site does not serve prices to search engines. That is a gap in the record, not a figure being withheld from this page.
The one public anchor is the 2024 Master Chef Class at ₩50,000, two editions old and covering the cheapest format on the bill. It gives the floor, not the range. A six-course set menu with a pairing flight per course in a resort ballroom prices like a hotel tasting menu, because that is structurally what it is: the kitchen cost plus a poured glass against every course. Reading the ₩50,000 class as a proxy for the gala will understate it substantially.
There is also no published statement of free versus paid admission. VisitJeju's listing carries no admission-fee field at all. The safe planning assumption is that the named dinners are ticketed and seat-limited, and that grounds programming such as the Beer Garden is priced separately per item. For a live figure on either, the organiser's line on 02-3467-0303 is the only route that reaches a person.
Budgeting the days you are not at a gala dinner
Most of a Jeju trip is ordinary meals, and those are documented. The Korea Consumer Agency's 참가격 dining-price series recorded, for March 2026, Seoul averages of ₩8,654 for a kimchi-jjigae baekban, ₩12,538 for naengmyeon and ₩21,218 for a samgyeopsal portion.
One of each in a day comes to ₩42,410 per person. Three days of eating on that pattern is ₩127,230, before drinks and before coffee at around ₩5,759 a cappuccino. Those are Seoul averages and Jeju's tourist-belt restaurants sit above them, so treat the sum as a floor rather than a forecast. The point it makes is directional: a full weekend of normal eating costs less than a single seat at a paired six-course dinner. The 2026 window ran straight through three public holidays
This is the scheduling detail that decides what a Jeju flight and hotel cost, and it is worth doing the arithmetic on.
Inside the twenty-two-day run there were four weekends (23–24 May, 30–31 May, 6–7 June, and the closing Saturday of 13 June), which is seven weekend days. Three public holidays landed in the same window, per VisitKorea's published 2026 holiday calendar: Buddha's Birthday on 24 May with Monday 25 May observed, Local Election Day on Wednesday 3 June, and Memorial Day on Saturday 6 June. So the 24–25 May stretch was a three-day domestic weekend, and both Gala Dinners sat on Saturdays inside the busiest half of the run.
Jeju is Korea's densest domestic holiday route, and that demand concentrates on exactly those dates. The practical rule for a 2027 repeat: fly in midweek, spend the weekend on the dinner, fly out midweek. If the gala Saturday is not the draw, a midweek Gourmet Dinner like 5 June 2026 is the cheaper travel date for the same festival.
What the 2027 edition looks like from here
Two editions give a pattern, not a promise. The 10th edition ran 10 May to 15 June 2025, thirty-seven days. The 11th ran 23 May to 13 June 2026, twenty-two days. The run lost fifteen days while the closing date moved by only two: mid-June is the fixed end, and the start date is what has been pulled later.
Both editions were open across the final weekend of May and the first weekend of June. That overlap is the block to hold for 2027. No 2027 dates have been announced in any published source as of 14 August 2026, so refundable bookings are the only sane form for anything bought this far ahead.
Where this breaks: the Shinhwa World sponsorship was reported in 2026 as being in its second consecutive year, which is a year-to-year arrangement rather than a permanent home. If the 12th edition moves venue, the anchor dates move with it and the late-May pattern stops predicting anything.
Jeju's wider festival calendar, and one absence worth knowing
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism designated 27 festivals as 2026–2027 Cultural Tourism Festivals, of which 20 were re-designated and 7 were new, including the Busan International Rock Festival, the Nonsan Strawberry Festival and the Sejong Hangeul Festival. Selection weighed expert and consumer evaluation across two years alongside problems such as overcharging and facility readiness.
No Jeju festival appears on that list, and neither does JFWF. The consequence is concrete rather than symbolic: the festival draws no ministry funding, no state overseas promotion and no place in the programme's product-development support for 2026–2027. Its scale rests on the organising committee and the resort sponsor, which is part of why a thirty-seven-day run in 2025 became a twenty-two-day run in 2026.
The island's other 2026 fixtures were the Jeju Fire Festival, 9–14 March at Saebyeol Oreum, with pre-events from 9 to 12 March, the official opening ceremony on 13 March and the Oreum Art Show on 14 March; that edition paired the traditional daljip-taeugi bonfire with a digital fire projection across the face of the oreum. The Jeju Latin Culture Festival was listed for 17–22 June at Jeju Shinhwa World, four days after JFWF closed on the same site.
Eating on Jeju without a festival ticket
Dongmun Traditional Market at 20 Gwandeok-ro 14-gil, Jeju-si, opens 08:00–21:00 year-round; the line is +82-64-752-3001. It is the largest and oldest surviving permanent market on the island, established immediately after liberation in August 1945, and the adjoining night market runs food-stall vendors into the evening. For a visitor who arrived on a date with no dinner seat available, this is the fallback that actually delivers Jeju ingredients rather than a resort approximation of them.
Five things that trip people up
- Assuming general admission is free. No admission-fee statement is published either way; the named dinners are separately ticketed and seat-limited.
- Assuming one venue. Jeju CS Hotel carried listed events and the programme was spread across the island, so a hotel booked next to Shinhwa World does not cover everything.
- Booking non-refundable flights before dates are confirmed. The start date moved by thirteen days between 2025 and 2026.
- Landing on a domestic holiday weekend. Buddha's Birthday, Local Election Day and Memorial Day all fell inside the 2026 run.
- Counting on the K-ETA waiver.
